Tell us a little bit about yourself:
My name is Dr. Morgan Zupan. I am a mom to an almost 14-month-old boy and stepmom to an 8-year-old boy. I am a prenatal/pediatric chiropractor, but I treat the entire family as well.
I am the owner of Zupan Chiropractic located in Dripping Springs, TX.
Where are you from originally and how long have you lived in town?
I grew up in Sweetwater, TX. I then attended college at the University of Texas at Austin.
Following the completion of my degree, I attended Parker University for chiropractic school. After graduation in April 2018, I then moved to South Austin with my husband where we lived for 3 years.
My husband and I decided during COVID that we wanted to move to Dripping Springs and have resided here for a little over 1 year.
One thing people would be surprised to know about you…
That I am an old soul at heart. Most people think that I am a lot older than I am when they first meet me because of the knowledge and wit I have beyond my generation. Also, one of my favorite bands is Fleetwood Mac.
What are some of your favorite things about the Texas Hill Country?
I love seeing all the oak trees when I look out my back patio. I also enjoy taking the scenic route to wineries or distilleries in the Hill Country area. This is a complete change of pace from living in the South Austin region. I can walk outside without hearing cars speeding by or bright city lights in the sky. The hills in our neighborhood also provide a great workout for me and my little one.
Please tell us about Zupan Chiropractic!
Why did you start it and how did you know this is what you wanted to do?
I started my practice in June 2022. I graduated chiropractic school in April of 2018, and I knew that I wanted to gain experience by working for another chiropractor first. This was a great experience for me for about 3 years but at that point I knew I would ultimately be happiest by having my own practice. It wasn’t until August of 2021 when I was 9 months pregnant that I knew I needed to step away, have the baby, and then open my practice.
While in chiropractic school I knew I wanted to focus on chiropractic care for the entire family. My interest was also piqued in treating the prenatal and pediatric population. My decision to specialize in pediatric and prenatal care was solidified during my pregnancy. I was adjusted on a weekly basis as I was experiencing piriformis syndrome and round ligament pain. These frequent adjustments are what got me through pregnancy and allowed me to continue treating my patients as well. My labor went smoother than I expected from having to be induced.
I was in active labor for 6 hours and pushed for 2.5 hours. The staff were all amazed at how quickly things progressed considering it was my first pregnancy. I of course attribute it 100% to having received chiropractic care throughout pregnancy. I also adjusted my newborn shortly after he was born to make sure his nervous system would be functioning optimally since it took some pulling to get him out.
What’s one thing you wish more people knew?
The benefits of chiropractic care. It is more than just the “pain” you feel. As chiropractors, we focus on determining the root cause of issues as opposed to treating only the symptoms. We provide a holistic approach to allow your body to function at its best without having to take medications to mask the pain. Chiropractic care is extremely beneficial for pregnant moms and babies as well.
Chiropractic care can help babies that suffer from conditions such as:
- Ear infections
- Colic/Reflux
- Nursing or Latching issues
- Fussiness
- Trouble sleeping
- Gastrointestinal issues
As far as pregnancy goes, chiropractic can help by:
- Improving posture
- Decreased sciatic pain
- Better sleep
- Decreased labor times
- Optimal fetal positioning
- Reduced round ligament pain
- Decreased discomfort
- Less stress/anxiety
How has this community been instrumental in getting you to where you are now?
Meeting other moms and moms that own their own businesses has provided me with numerous opportunities that I wouldn’t have received otherwise.
Zupan Chiropractic now has its own space because of the relationships that I have made in the Dripping Springs community.
What’s your proudest accomplishment?
My proudest accomplishment would be giving birth to my baby boy Zane. He is the happiest human I know. He is the reason why I strive to be the best mom and provider for our family.
What was your biggest failure?
My biggest failure would be not having the courage to open my own practice sooner.
Where do you hope to be in 10 years?
I hope to have a thriving practice that allows me the flexibility to be profitable while still being able to be present for my family.
I hope to provide a space for moms to take care of themselves and their loved ones while also being a part of a motherhood community.
If you could tell your younger self something, what would it be?
Never sell yourself too short. You can be just as great or better than those whom you look up to.
